Nidaa Al Watan
The newspaper was established by Henri Sfeir in the early nineties of the last century. It then stopped publishing in 2000 due to financial problems. In 2012, news spread that Najib Mikati, the prime minister, had bought the “Nidaa Al Watan” license from Sfeir, but this was not applied in practice. Six years later, businessman Michel Mecattaf bought the newspaper’s license, which resumed publication on July 1, 2019. Journalist Bechara Charbel was appointed as Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper and Georges Barbary as its managing director. On March 18, 2022, businessman Michel Mecattaf, owner of the Mecattaf Exchange Company and publisher of Nidaa Al Watan newspaper, died after suffering an acute heart attack.
