Société Nouvelle d'Information Audiovisuelle SAL

The Société Nouvelle d'Information Audiovisuelle is an independent joint-stock company broadcasting as Voix du Liban (VDL). It is associated with the Phalange Party, which, in 2016, bought the rights to the 100.3 and 100.5 FM radio frequencies, previously owned by Noujoum Loubnan (Stars of Lebanon), a Category 2 (i.e. non-political) station. In 2017, the Lebanese Court of Cassation ruled that the Voix du Liban logo, with the acronym VDL, is a distinctive name worthy of protection and that its rights were to be granted solely to the Société Nouvelle d'Information Audiovisuelle SAL, banning the Société Moderne d'Information SAL from using this name. In 2021, the Lebanese judiciary prohibited the radio station "VDL" located in Dbayeh from using the trade name after a legal dispute that lasted for years. The judiciary ruled in favor of the "Phalange Party," granting them ownership of the "Voice of Lebanon" radio station in Achrafieh. Judge Rania Rahmeh issued her ruling in the ongoing dispute between the "Voice of Lebanon - Achrafieh" radio station and the "VDL - Dbayeh" radio station. She prohibited Société Nouvelle d'Information Audiovisuelle SAL, which operates "VDL," from using the name "Voice of Lebanon" and the distinctive marks VDL, Radio Voice of Lebanon, and VDL News, and ordered their immediate removal under penalty of a coercive fine of two million Lebanese pounds for each day of delay. The General Manager of the company is Assaad Maroun. The members of the Board of Directors are Georges Jreij, Serge Dagher and Serge Bou Halka.
