Jamaa Islamiya
The Jamaa Islamiya was officially founded in 1964 in Beirut. It issued "Al-Shihab" magazine on December 1, 1966. The first Secretary-General of the group was Professor and former MP Fathi Yakan, and the other founders were: Fayez Iali, Muhammad Karima, Muhammad Dari'i and Ibrahim Al Masri. The Jamaa Islamiya is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. During the Lebanese war, the Jamaa Islamiya established, outside its framework, specialized associations and institutions throughout the Lebanese territory, including educational institutions, institutes and kindergartens, as well as medical and social facilities. The Jamaa Islamiya won its first seats in the Lebanese parliament in 1992 and is currently represented by Beirut MP Imad Hout. It is reportedly fighting, alongside Hezbollah, in the border clashes taking place between Lebanon and the Israeli forces since October 2023.
