Mecattaf Family
Michel Mecattaf was the son-in-law of former President Amine Gemayel. He unsuccessfully ran as a candidate in the 2018 legislative elections in Metn on the Lebanese Forces ticket. He also owned Nidaa Al Watan newspaper. In August 2021, the Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun initiated a series of lawsuits against Mecattaf, his company, and several people and companies whom she suspects of being involved in illegal money transfer operations through the Mecattaf company. He was the CEO of Mecattaf company, specializing in foreign exchange transactions and fund transfers; he later died at the age of 52 after a heart attack, in March 2022. His heirs currently own Nidaa Al Watan; they include Marianne Mecattaf, Laura Mecattaf, and Karim Mecattaf.
